Choppy touch input?

Whenever I swipe or scroll slowly I notice the touchscreen would freeze up for a split second or so and then 'jump' to where my finger is. It's not that obvious but really makes it hard to play games, especially when aiming in shooters like PUBG Mobile. I don't remember having this issue on Nougat 7.1.1 and haven't really dropped the phone badly. Factory reset, cache wipe, re-flashing Oreo, safe mode - nothing worked. Anyone else have this?

I know its been so long since the post was made, but in case some one else stumbles here with the same problem: Go to your display settings and turn on/use increased touch sensitivity option.

The problem mostly originates from protective screen covers and general degradation of the screen sensors (if your phone is damaged or +8 years old)
