Every once in a while I have this obnoxious problem where when you hit the back arrow in the text messages window (not the android back button, but the on-screen one at the top LEFT), it will take me back to the home screen, instead of all my text conversations like it normally does. Why does this happen? Is it only happening to me?

I meant to say top left, and corrected my post. This happened to me several times yesterday. I wonder what is wrong with mine and right with yours...

Just tested on mine, works as expected. Maybe you want to clear data of the Messaging app? Better back up your SMS though. On older versions of TouchWiz this doesn't delete messages but haven't tried it yet. Personally I use chompSMS mainly because the stock SMS app supports only 450 characters per SMS. :D

I prefer Google Messenger to messages so it has nothing to do as you suggested with it being broken when I made that suggestion. If you don't like Google messenger just stick with what you've got and be happy once somebody figures out what the heck is wrong with it

In other words I didn't abandon it

This happens if you're opening a text message via the lockscreen notification or via any "pop-up" notification etc, AND you have the Messages app closed. If the Messages app was opened (in the background), then it will take you back to the screen showing all the text conversations etc.

I'm quite sure this is just a feature, and it makes sense, as the "back" button would mean going "back" to the home screen, since you weren't in the Messages app before (in fact, it was closed).

If you're getting text messages so regularly that this behaviour becomes a significant inconvenience, just make sure to leave the Messages app open all the time.
