Back on the pixel 2 xl...

Agreed. I can walk around here at work and see a dozen lightning cables on random peoples desks with varying degrees of breakage and they are still trying to milk them out to the point of wrapping tape on them (scotch tape even for some) and it blows my mind. My wife was going through a lightning cable every six months till I got her an Anker Powerline+ that finally stopped that. IDK what people do to these cables but I've never broken and frayed a cable an inch before the connector be it now with USB-C nor with Micro USB, I've used cables for several years with no problems. IDK what apple makes their cables from but its cheap because they don't hold up to the abuse people give them like a good cable does.

I'm not even talking the cable portion....I've seen male connectors break off the charger

Anyone here interested in either blue or black pixel 2 (or both)? They're unlocked and come with unopened coral google home mini..looking to switch platforms

Stuff for sale needs to be posted in the Android Central Community: marketplace.

I would post a link but I'm on the app.

Thanks Mike. I tried creating a thread in the mktplace. I am not allowed to create one and contacted androidcentral about it

Though I don't have an S9+ (currently have the S8+) I would choose the S9+. Reason being that I don't care for iOS (so the iphone is out) and the pixel 2 is a great phone but I am more a hardware guy than anything and Samsung's hardware CANNOT be beat.

They have the best water resistance, cameras (yeah Pixel 2 has great cameras but I've looked at comparisons on this very site and the S9 series wins; plus I don't use my cameras all that much anyway), wireless charging (huge one for me as I use it all the time), materials (yeah most people don't like the glass but I do), battery life (again, hate on me all you want but I have zero issues with my battery), speakers, headphone jack (*GASP*), Iris scanner (I don't even bother with the fingerprint scanner because the iris scanner rocks) and so on. I do like samsung's theme store though I would love it if they let you theme individual apps AND the status bar/navbar icons.

As for the bixby button, Bixby is quite useful though I don't use it. You can easily disable it (for all those whining about how easy it is to accidentally press). I actually just remap it (using bxActions from google play) and have it do other things like flashlight with a single press and toggle between sound/vibrate with a long press. I think its quite useful for that; though it sucks that we can't remap it without a 3rd party app.

Final note, their Always on display (AOD) is awesome. Of course, improvements can always be made but I love it. The ability to double tap the home button (or hard press) makes it so I won't wear out the power button (woot) and I love being able to add my own image.

One can't resist the modern and eye catching design , high productivity, gorgeous screen ,and ton of features the edge screen of S9 can give.
But at the edge it self lies the headache as no dam screen protector has been made so far can stick formerly an the screen, and that why I personally fed up and I don't to switch to a normal screen phone.

Camera , smoothness , feel in the hand.

People often comment on the superior build quality of Samsung devices. I actually prefer the hardware feel in the hand of the Pixel devices also. Samsung devices instantly become fingerprint magnets. (I typically use my devices without a case where possible)

Both are decent. Neither battery life blows me away. Big difference is if your a Bluetooth person, iOS is the way to go. Bluetooth just kills Android devices.

Bluetooth being on is definitely a battery hog. I never have it on for that exact reason (and if I have to have it on, it's on sparingly).

That's an interesting generalization. I can use my Sony WH1000XM2 wireless noise-cancelling headphones for many hours every day and my Pixel 2 XL so far hasn't been killed. Since I'm not using the screen while listening, battery drain is actually quite minimal.

Well there you go. I’m using my phone with Bluetooth and the drain is pretty bad when syncing apps. Same set up on my iPhone yield much better results. Not a deal breaker, just something I have to manage

I get considerably better battery like on the X than my pixel 2xl

I agree with you 100% on that. One big reason I decided to go back to my X. It's the one thing I have always said apple has going for them is their battery optimization. I have yet to get better battery life on Android. It's quite impressive on iOS

My Bluetooth is ALWAYS on and I have no problems with battery life. Haven't noticed much of a difference with it on versus with it off.
