My scare over the weekend got me thinking...I am on a BYOD S8+ with VZW...I have no idea if I have a cloud back up capability. I will call VZW and ask. However, aside from that...is there a simple way...a way that even a tech ***** could understand...to back up my entire device? When I say "entire" -- I mean contacts, text messages, pictures, videos, etc.

I don't know if I have to back up my emails and calendar -- as my one email is corporate and synced with Office 365 on my laptop, and my second email is a gmail which I can access on the web. Same with my calendar, it syncs, so no back up is needed.

So, can I back up to -- a hard-drive? A cloud? My laptop? A thumb-drive? I guess my question is the mechanics -- how do I do it? Is there software I can use? I used to use BlackBerry Desktop Manager and that seemed pretty simple and seamless.

Root it and then backup it using 'Migrate' app

OK...thanks...can you elaborate a bit? What does root it actually mean? I thought that deletes data. I'll check out the Migrate app, but where does it back up the data? Thanks again.

Use Samsung smart switch back up tool on your pc

You can also use Samsung Switch on your phone to back up to micro sd card in device. I do it every Saturday morning.

Also, if you buy a new Samsung you can restore from micro sd in the new device.

Just remember the password you assign.
