I have the S9+ on Verizon and also have Pie. I noticed that I can back up my contacts to my phone (which is the Verizon cloud) or to my Google account (contacts). I know that backing up to the Verizon cloud all those contacts will be transferred over when I get a new phone. If I choose to back up my contacts to my Google account.....will those contacts also transfer over to a new phone?

I noticed that in my phone's contact settings I have a choice to choose a default storage location. I can select where to save my contacts. I can choose phone (Verizon cloud) or my Google account.

I would like to save my contacts to only one of those options. Which one would be the wiser choice? Thank you!

I've always used Google and whichever phone I get whether lg Samsung anything that has Google it automatically uploads all my saved contacts.

Google. Always. It transfers over to any device on any OS on any carrier.

I use Smart Switch & backup my phone contacts, messages, pictures, etc. to my PC.

I restored my contacts from my Galaxy s5 backups to my Galaxy s9+ when I changed phones last year. I just used my Husbands Galaxy s9 backup to restore items to his new Galaxy s10+.

I try to keep contact info off the cloud.

Yea, I am the same way.

I'm the same way but also noticed the way I was doing things when I tried to switch phones I lost contacts or they merged and it was just a mess.

That must have been terrible. I can't even imagine all the frustration.

I originally used Kies, but had to change to Smart Switch as it was incompatible with the s9 line...at least for me. I guess I've been lucky so far, no duplicates after a restore. Hoping you never have that issue again.
