This error has been plaguing Nougat users for months.

Google acknowledged the problem as early as June 2017, and suggested a fix will be released by October 2017.

Fast forward to October 2017. Google "Support Team" and "Community Specialists" insist the error is only cosmetic, and backups are backing up properly. While that may be true, these backups are not restoring properly.

I'm surprised this isn't a more widely reported issue, especially from outlets like Android Central. I suspect the average user isn't aware of this issue until they are unfortunately greeted with it when they have to restore their phone.

It has already been discussed, here on AC and on CrackBerry. Here are a couple of threads I'm aware of.

I had to have service on my S8+ this week, which required a wipe then restore. Except for the fact that some apps don't use the Google backup properly, almost all my data was restored.
