Background Apps

Is there a way to make apps stop starting themselves and running in the background? It's slowing down my device and it's incredibly annoying. If not, how do I remove these apps without rooting? The ones I'm talking about are those that are pre-installed on the phone like Amazon MP3 and Skype Mobile

You should use a Task Manager which can help you out with that.
