Backing up the Galaxy Nexus

With my Droid Incredible I would back up the SD card and the removable disk every week to my computer. It was relatively fast and I felt that if I lost my phone I could reinstall most of my data to a new phone. I used My Backup Pro. I do not like uploading my info to some server who knows where and I felt comfortable with this plan. Is there a way I can do this with our Nexus? I've tried copying everything on our phone to my computer but it takes forever, what other options do I have?
