Backing up videos to Google photos

I have a couple (longer) videos on my phone that I have tried to upload to Google photos a few times now but all I get is permanent rotating circle thing on the video showing that it's trying to back up, but it never actually happens. I don't know if it just freezes up because they're a little longer or what. Does anyone have any suggestions? They are anywhere between 8 and 15 minutes long. I have also tried to back them up to Google Drive but the same thing happens.

Are you trying to backup over Wi-Fi or cellular? Video files, especially if shot in 4k, can be huge and will require a solid internet connection to successfully transfer.

I've tried both of them and neither one has worked so far

How long have you waited to see if the file finally finished backing up? And do you know what your upload speeds are, on mobile data or wi-fi? Even if you have pretty fast download speeds, the upload speeds might be fairly slow. So as N4Newbie mentioned, if these are 4K videos, a 15 min video might take a while to upload. How big are the files?
