Backlight?

Hi. I was wondering if someone can help me.
I got the Evo 3D about a week ago. It's a brand new phone. Ever since I had it, I've noticed there is a problem with the backlight. I couldn't find any solution in the settings or online.
After the phone has gone idle, I'd need to press the power button 3 times to get the screen to turn on again. The 1st time, the screen lights up a little bit (very little). I can't see anything except very vague outlines. I have to press the power button a 2nd time, every thing then go dark. After the 3rd time, the screen appears.
I've found that after the first press, even though there is nothing on the screen, I can still "pull the ring up" and unlock my phone. Technically, I can do everything but with nothing on the screen.
This is a minor annoyance at first. I don't mind pressing it 3 times to use the phone.
But I've discovered that if I get a phone call, pressing power 3 times will "ignore" the call. I've tried a few times by calling myself with the home phone.
Any suggestion?

I would try a factory reset first and if that don't work, return it and exchange for another one.
