Backspace gets stuck and deletes everything I typed

I'm running 4.1.2 but this has been a problem for me since bringing it home from the Sprint store. So this seems to happen at random, but is very frustrating, especially after having typed a lengthy message. In fact, it just happened to me again, and the only way I have found to save myself is quickly using the back button or 'done' button, etc. It is like a virus eating away everything letter by letter. I usually can catch it after it eats away a line or two. I have taken to selecting all and copying after every sentence typed as a precaution. I will note that I do use backspace when typing rather frequently, as I don't use the word suggestions, and like everything edited properly. If anyone has had a similar experience or knows about it, I would gladly appreciate the help. Thanks!

Does your screen register random taps in that area?
My LS970 (the Sprint variant) gets a lot of these ?ghost touches" when plugged in via high-amp USB chargers.

Hmm, I'm not sure I'd call it ghost taps but its possible, and I am usually plugged in with the phone. I'll have to see if it happens when I'm not charging. Thanks.

This happens to me as well on my Optimus G and I have noticed it while not being plugged into anything. I switched from the LG keyboard to the standard android keyboard and haven't had the problem since but that could just be a coincidence. I am wondering if this is only an issue while in the messaging application or if this happens in other applications such as notes.

I've had it doing this in all input fields such as browsers, social media, games, etc. I'm going to try changing from the LG keyboard to see how it works. Thanks for the tip.

This has been happening for me since sometime in April this year right after Sprint pushed a system update. I have a LG Optimus G, with Sprint. I called their support and described the issue to them twice now, and they've been completely clueless. It happens in text messages and other apps, like Facebook and Twitter. I'll be typing a long, then go to backspace to correct an error, and it will just erase EVERYTHING and then won't let me type anything else. I'll have to back out of the text message or App and go back in and restart. It's extremely frustrating! At first it was only happening after I'd typed out large sections of text, like 5 or 6 sentences worth. But now it will do it after only 2 sentences.

I think Sprint thought I was doing something to trigger it, but this wasn't happening when I first got the phone the previous November.

I only have the LG keyboard on my phone, so I'm going try the Android keyboard and see if it works for me.
