My phone began to run Backup Assistant at 3:00 a.m. and is still running. When I click on it at the top of my home screen, it takes me to a status screen that says "Last backup attempt: Contacts backed up: 141" and "Last backup Today, 02:50 PM, Failed". I don't know how to disable this program. It's been running for almost 12 hours and is draining my battery. Any advice?

First, go into your Verizon account and make sure it's not on your feature list for the paid version.
Second, go into your Settings->More->Applications. Find the Backup Assistant app and clear cache and data.
Third, in that same app list, find Sync Service. Clear its data and cache, then disable.
Fourth, reboot your phone.
Hopefully that will help.

Old thread, but helpful to me with my new S4. In order to find the Backup Assistance Plus app and the Sync Service I had to go to Settings, More, Storage, then tap Applications. Hit the ALL tab up top (or RUNNING if it's currently running) to find the two programs to disable.

I don't know what's going on with my phone(S3)the last week or so, but I started getting that Backup Assistant Plus message everyday and I'm like.... I don't need to Sync squat. I'm past being sick and tired of Google, Verizon and Yahoo telling me what they want to do with my device, or service. If I want them to do something with my device, or service I'll freaking ask them. I did what Averix said. I hope it works.
