My back up assistant keeps restoring my old contacts that I have deleted off from my phone. Anyone know how I can start with a fresh backup?

Delete contacts from phone then force BA to perform abackup. Maybe you can access online and delete from there??

OK it look like if you have a My Verizon account at verizonwireless.com you can access your contacts and edit them then redo them to your phone.

awesome i will try that, because when i delete them and then do a backup to backup assistant, it puts all the ones i just deleted back on there

This is a cool feature, when I setup my HTC, it automatically downloaded my contacts that were back up!

yeh i got them deleted from backup assistant, now i'll start over fresh with a new backup. My problem i used google sync with my blackberry, so when i put my email on the new phone it brought all my google sync numbers over and then all the numbers from backup assistant, so i had like 2 of every single number, even when linking them together i would have different numbers for the same person

If you have your contacts synced with Google why even use backup assistant? I don't.

because i can't figure out how to make it stup backing up to backup assistant, under accounts adn sync both backup assistant and google both have green arrows, when i click on add account, i can't remove backup assistant, any ideas?

anyone got an idea of how to turn off the backup assistant but keep the resty syncing auto-matically?

hey worm i had the SAME exact issue when i got my phone. i fixed this by doing a factory reset. then when i run through the initial setup, i skipped setting up backup assistant. now i have 1 copy of each contact.
you can switch your people app view to just phone only and then delete them, but that also deleted some of my google contacts as well. luckily i stopped the sync before i test everything so nothing would be permanent. but doing the factory reset is the only way i could find to stop backup assistant. kinda sucks

Anyone have a better way to cancel/remove backup assistant than a factory reset?

Why can't I find my back up assistant on my phone? When I read on Verizons site how to download it I can't even find the media center, what am I doing wrong?

If you run the setup it will take you to backup assistant. Thats how i got to it

Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Backup Assistant

clear the cache, then run backup assistant. See if that helps.

Thanks got it, I wanted to synch my outlook contacts, finally figured out how, now on to photos and non gmail mail!
