Hi, I don't know if that's been discussed before, sincere apologies if it has. My problem is that I broke my screen and it doesn't work at all, but the rest of the phone works perfectly. I had around 400 songs and near 700 pictures on it and it'll be a shame to lose it all. I can't connect it to my laptop as the phone is stuck in a mode which won't allow it to be connected to a computer. I also downloaded a couple of programmes onto my PC which were supposed to back everything up but they didn't do much. I'm not getting the screen replaced as I have an S7 Edge now. Any help would be appreciated before I pay someone to do it.

Why don't you just get a screen replacement? It would fix all of your problems at once.

Have you got an SD card in there? You could save some stuff from there.
If you had your fingerprint saved on there you could try holding down the power button until it vibrates and power offs. Then turn it on again, and use your finger print to unlock the device. Then you could access the files on your computer if it's unlocked.

It's a S6 so no SD card, replacement screen is like £160 and I can't unlock it with a fingerprint. I tried pretty much everything possible and nothing worked.

If the S6 is anything like the Note 4, if you power down and power up, you will need to unlock the device using your back-up password.

I was in a similar situation lately. I dropped my Note 4 and it landed face-down on a concrete floor, rendering the screen inoperable. The fingerprint scanner didn't work, and the only way to retrieve anything was to replace the screen.
