Backup for Windows 7

What is the recommended backup method for Windows 7. Is the built in applet sufficient, or a FREE 3rd party app using the cloud a better way to go. Thanks.

That link didn't help. Android is not involved in this issue. My wife's laptop has windows 7 and has never been backed up. Should I use the included backup, or a free cloud based application? Thanks.
