Backup/restore

My last 2 Notes I've used the Samsung/Google restore for simplicity sake. But I'm tired of literally 5 hours of battery life. So this time I'm thinking of doing a new setup and just installing apps as needed. Should I decide a week or so later I want to do the restore does Google/Samsung keep my data for a little bit of time or will it be overwritten by the new install/setup?

Not too worried about sms and photos as Pulse and Google Photos saves them as well as my Samsung account once I log in to it. Just mainly concerned about other ancillary services and apps.

I just recently deleted a note 9 back up from my Samsung cloud. So it's been there for almost 6 months.

I typically use my Samsung Cloud Back up which is pretty fast.

I'm really dreading a fresh install and the time it'll take. But I just don't understand why I can't even get half a day of battery life.
