I use GSam Battery Monitor Pro to keep track of my battery stats. Based on the app, I was getting close to 8 hours of on screen and about 21 hours from 100% to 5%

Is that 5 minutes sot down to 80%? Unless there is a super aggressive app causing that it may be fault. Have you tried doing a factory data reset, or at least a cache wipe?

Yes... just went to the dealer, I get a new phone since this must be defective and only 1 week old. Hope the new one is better.

So,the new model you received is feeling hot and is similar in terms of battery consumption? What apps are you using on it - social media, etc?

I have not yet had my replacement phone, but I will next week, its the "old phone", that is getting hot, so I am pretty sure something is wrong with it-

Oh, sorry, I misread - but I'm relieved it's the old phone that is still giving you trouble! Let us know how your new phone fares when it comes in!

Re: Bad battery? I FOUND A SOLUTION!

I had the same problem, it started a few days ago (the phone was great before).

I tried many ways, so many internet tutorials, and nothing worked.

I FOUND A SOLUTION! In a forum about the same problem on a nexus phone. It seems to be a problem about Android 7.0 (not the phone itself).

And the solution is: go to config - apps. Click on the three dots in right bottom. Click on "restore app preferences" or someting like that (My phone is in portuguese). Restart the phone.

Voilá! The phone come back to its great battery life!

Spread the information, please. I waste several days and finding no solution (and the solution was very, very simple).

Sorry for my bad english

Regards from Brazil!

Re: Bad battery? I FOUND A SOLUTION!

Well I'm pretty sure my first phone was defective, it got a bit hot to when using it. The new replacement phone has much better battery time.

Restoring app preferences, I guess this will also restore the battery firewall on Huawei phone, or at least, it will restore the settings pr app that will not allow the app to run in the background when the screen is off. If all apps are set to close when the screen is, you will get better battery life, but also you mite not get any notification settings, and some apps do need to run in the background. The Huawei battery firewall is a bit aggressive I think.

Do you know what "restore app preferences" does? Did it set all of your apps back to default settings like when you installed them?

(and don't worry about your English, I am already impressed you know two languages!)

Cancel that. I just tried to do it and it pops up a notification of everything it's about to do when you do that reset.

I average 7/8 hours daily SOT one of my main reasons for buying was the atrocious battery life on my 6p this is Amazing and even if i was getting 6 hours it would of been fantastic i could barely get 3.5 with Nexus 6p.

I have problems with my mate 9 too. It seems to drain faster compared to my old mate 8 who lasts 2 days with heavy uses!

This mate 9 only lasts from 100% 9am morning to only 10% by 10pm.

Can somebody check my gsam pics?
