Bad Earphone Speaker Quality

I just got my Droid 3, and the top front speaker you use while in a call sounds terrible to me - not nearly as good as my Droid 1. My friend's Droid 3 sounds the same. Have any of you experienced this? Are there any weird settings related to it that I don't know about?

Mine is great. Motorola generally has good speaker quality.

I'm surprise mine is great. I'm a long time BB user and the Droid 3's speaker is 10x better
