Just recently switched to Sprint from verizon and got the Epic. No matter inside or outside with a full signal or half signal my 3g speeds are horrible. I average about .5 to .1mbs. Do not have 4g here, but I can tell you with verizon at worst I ever got on 3g was 1.0 mbs and best was 2.95mbs. Is sprints 3g this slow or could my phone be bunked? I am rooted on the stock froyo and haven't done any other mods. I did try the swisscheese gingerbread but I was getting worse 3g data and my battery life was horrible, only 4 hours with 20 mins of screen on checking facebook and emails.

I just switched to VZW from sprint and I am noticing much higher 3G speeds. I used to get better 3G speeds on my Hero (with the governors off on a custom ROM... Thanks to gbhil or jerry hillenbrand). Service has seemed to deplete a bit as of recently.

It's that slow lol, if nothing else enjoy the unlimited data no cap, albeit slower and cheaper

Trade off value depends on you

Technically, there is no data cap on verizon either. They only slow you down if you are causing data shortages (some people have reported using upwards of 60GB a month).

It's sprint. The best I get 3g is .5 mbps. Sometimes as low as 87 kbps. My 4g ranges from 1 mbps to 2 mbps. My friends evo gets the same speeds.

Wow lol I guess its ok its not like I am downloading huge files or anything and it seems to be ok, a little lower than verizon, but ok. I did travel to a suburb here and had a full 3g signal and no data. Kept giving me data connection errors and in 30 minutes my battery went from half to plug me in now.

This is BS data speeds have not always been this bad with sprint. If they dont fix this then i am switching to Verizon when my contract is up.

Its gotten noticebly slower over time. My guess is more users with fancy new smart phones. LOL

But seriously, your not alone.

Sprint's 3g is always that slow. I average about 750kbps, give or take 250kbps.

Nobody's contesting that Verizon is faster with better coverage, but that's why Sprint's simply everything is only $99.99 /mo and an equivalent plan from VZW costs $120/mo. You get what you pay for.

Yep, it's Sprint. I have to hit WiFi for anything big, which is what Sprint wants you to do anyway.

I live with it knowing I'm putting money in the bank.

Sprint's 3g is just that bad in my experience. They make up for it by being much cheaper for the most part. Doesn't really bother me since I'm around a wifi connection 90% of the time.

Depends on where you are. I've gotten 3 Mbps and 10 MBps with 3g and 4g respectively. However coverage is very spotty. It's for sure inferior to Verizon.
