bad signal strength after 2.1 update

55, this seems to be a known issue after the upgrade. What I don't know is if the signal is actually bad or if the bars just indicate that the signal is bad. I upgraded to 2.1 V2 and when my phone is right next to my wifes phone, hers has more signal than mine, but I've never had an actual issue with cell service.

Some people have had luck updating the PRL of the phone.

1. dial *228

2. choose option 2 to update the preferred roaming list (PRL)

Once the programming is complete the phone will reboot.

I noticed a visual decrease in the number of bars after the upgrade. At my home out in the middle of nowhere, signal is weak. I normally had 2 solid bars. After the update, it ranges from zero to 1 tick mark. Regardless, I haven't had any dropped calls or other interruptions.

same here. i actually get the small bar to the left of a signal's worth but no data problems except in 1x
