Basic Question on functionality

This is a very dumb question but one that I can't find the answer to. How do you cut/copy and then paste on a Galaxy phone? I now how to do it on my PC and it's straight forward but I haven't found how to do it on my Galaxy S9+

Press and hold on most any text, picture or web addresses then tap copy. Tap and incert almost anywhere you need.
