Basic Wear OS Functionality Question

Hi, I recently got the Ticwatch for running without my phone, but am now starting to really like having a watch. I realize that currently, when I want to review emails that come in, it is just showing notifications from my phone. The problem is, I hate having email notifications set on my phone. Is there anyway to see unread emails, or new emails on the watch, without having my phone set to show notifications? Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! I moved this to the Wear OS forum for more specific traffic.

In the Wear OS app, there's an option to Silence Phone, with a switch to Silence Alerts and Notifications. But I think that silences all notifications on the phone (while letting them come to the watch).

I don't think that is possible, but could be wrong. I think for Notifications the watch is just an extension of the phone. Some apps run on the watch independent of the phone, but I'm not sure if email apps can do that, I think they just pull their notification from the phone.
