Battery and charging your phone to 100%

So my dad says it doesn't matter if you charge your phone 100% with these phones. With the S9 / S9+. I was telling him about the more you use the up your discharge cycles, the quality of the battery isn't as great.

We do have the Snapdragon 845 (since we live in US.)

I haven't charged it to 100% yet. I've just charged it to 99% once and it was counted as a discharge cycle.

I don't know what to believe . or how I should be charging my phone.

Thoughts? Opinions?
