battery and night mode

As battery life is one of the main problems with nexus and presumably white on black text uses less battery than black on white, I am surprised that most google apps don't have this as an option. Any answers?

I use the Tasker app to turn off wifi at midnight...back on at 6am.
I also use Airplane mode at night.
Big improvement in batt life.

I use Llama for the same purpose. Make it silent, turn off W-Fi.

My question really was about daytime. Why don't more apps offer an option for white on black for text (like this one does) if it would save battery.
