Battery being horrible

My galaxy nexus gets 5 hours from full to dead, on my desk at work it will drop 40 % per hour

@Cadiloc are you thinking about changing/returning the phone?

Gabi, I am in SP, moving from a Iphone and very disappointed with S4 battery, if I have to turn on / off every service all the time ... better off back to Iphone, after 3 days of cycling the battery it got better, I am also waiting for a spare battery with fingers crossed. Mine is Vivo and I fully doubt they would ever change the phone here on a suspicious of a hardware problem, the Samsung specialist at a Vivo store had no clues about the fine tunnning of a S4, sofrivel.
Rgds and good luck to us...
Tito

Here's my battery stats:

I charged it to a hundred, unplugged around 130am, and went to sleep. Woke up at 7ish and the phone was down to 96%.

Phone was down to 5% by 7pm, so 12 hours, and I wouldn't say that I used it very much(don't think I had 3 hours of screen time, but I will try to time myself tomorrow, as it's more likely that I am wrong than the phone is)
Also never used maps, so don't know why it used 7% of my battery!

I would be very happy if my phone only dropped 7% when I sleep, it is more like 35%...

Three hours of screen time is absolutely terrible. My iPhone used to get nearly three times that as I recall. I NEVER had to even THINK about my battery with the iPhone.
I've never gotten that battery with an iPhone. However I agree, this is worse than the iPhone(I have faith that it'll get better)

I have juice defender, so it doesn't constantly sync.

I really don't get why this is so bad. It'll go down a percent after 2 minutes of using evernote.

I'm having a similar issue. I'm sure I have a rogue app that's keeping the main android process awake. Kept it awake for 45 minutes out of 6 hours today.

Turn of "Smart Stay", that feature constantly runs and it drains ur battery
I turned mine off and noticing a good difference

Smart Stay does nothing when the screen is off. Using diagnositcs, it never shows up as a significant user of cpu or battery.

There are relatively simple ways to figure out what's killing your battery. First step is to look at battery stats, and from that screen tap on the graph and see additional detail about radio use, then tap on the Display row and see what screen on time is. Capture all 3 screens and post here.

Wakelock Detector can tell you what apps are keeping the system from sleeping. Remember that any background syncing (email, facebook, twitter, Google) will cause a wakelock while it runs.

System Panel will detect and report on CPU usage by apps and system processes. Other than screen and radio, CPU usage is good indicator of what's using battery.
