Does anyone do battery calibration on their 10 is it necessary to do this once a while to maintain battery performance.

Why should it NEVER be done? Yes it can have a benefit, especially if the battery file has gone corrupt, missing or deleted.
I understand Lion batteries are not meant to be depleted, and its best to charge before it gets below 20% but if his device is showing odd percentages then he should calibrate it.

Excessive heat is bad for Lion batteries and so is excessive low voltage.

What's an odd percentage?

Odd percentage could be stuck at a certain number for a long period of time, or going up when not actually charging.

I make a habit of running my phone down to shut-off once every 6 months, or when a major OS update happens, or when I do a factory reset. I have been doing it for the last 6 years and I haven't had an issue. In fact, many of my old phones have seen little or no measurable degradation in battery life for the 3+ years of use. And remember, you're calibrating the software, not the battery. Many a fight has started here over the talk of setting battery memory and the like.

I run mine down to near zero occasionally not always on purpose. Never ever had any issue what so ever with L-ion batteries. Never have had to replace one either. I see posts from people who say charge at 40% stop charging at 80%. What a frickin' hassle. Just use it, charge as often as you like and run it down as needed. They are designed to shut down before true zero% is reached anyway. Enjoy it!

I know I seen those recommendations and can't believe it. If you did that you'd only be using 40% of your battery? Why would anyone do that hassle wise?

I don't like to let mine go under 15%. When my M8's battery started going, it would shut down around 15% but it was a hard shut down, like a crash. I'd have to log back into everything. It was awful. I try never to let them shut down due to battery drain now.

I just got the 10 yesterday, an early upgrade because my M8 was doing this all the time, except it wouldn't even make it to 15%. We're talking a crash at 75%. I'd had to factory reset the thing 4 times since January 1. I actually have found myself checking the 10 all day to see what's going on with the battery which probably isn't doing me any favors. It's at 63% and I'm a little worried it's going to die on me.
