Battery doesn't charge to 100%?

Is it normal that the battery doesn't charge to 100%? I have a battery widget and when I get the popup saying the battery is fully charged my widget shows 98%. The widget never displays 100% after I charge it. Is that normal? I already wiped my battery stats but it didn't make it difference.

Also is there a zip file that will remove the battery popup? I know there was a secret code for it on eclair but it looks like it doesn't work with froyo.

Thanks.

Once you get the popup that your battery is full, shut the phone off and continue to charge it untill the big battery icon says it's full. Then, without unplugging, turn the phone on and let it charge until it reaches 100%. That's only way to make sure that the battery is completely full.

Once it's at 100% then wipe the battery stats. Then let the phone discharge to 5% and recharge with the phone on, uninterupted, till full and you're calibtated. It will take several charge and discharge cycles to really see the results.

That's what I just did 2 days ago.

Thanks for the help I thought the bump charging was only an issue with the evo and incredible, I guess not.

Nah. It would be nice to get the full 100% without bumping. Best thing is to just unplug the phone when is says charged.

i think its a lithium ion battery thing...the battery is a computer and has some parameters which are designed to keep you from replacing a battery all the time. (more specifically not fully discharging or overcharging)
