Hello,

I know there are a lot of thread about this problem and I read several of them but without finding the origin of my problem ☹

I have a Samsung S6 with Android 7.0 (update of March 2018 G920FXXU6ERC1) and I have a battery drain problem that I cannot figure out.

I did:
-factory reset
-disable useless apps (from Samsung or google)
-install only apps that I use often
-disable GPS, NFC, ..

In airplane mode during the night it’s fine, (<5% drop)

With airplane disable, wifi enable, LTE enable:
-during the night it goes from 80% to 4%
-In the battery status screen, if I do the sum of the app consuming battery, it’s 20% and not 96%! (and I think it was when I was using the phone, before going to bed).

-I installed Wakelock Detector and here are the results. It says it was in deep sleep 11h

Do you have an idea of where the problem can come from please?

Thank you,

Welcome to Android Central! Can you show us the Cell Signal Strength graph from GSam?

Hello,

Thank you :)

Here are the graph:

CPU was idle and Doze activated. That's strange!

Ok, the cell signal looks fine, so that's not the problem. Can you show the battery stats for which apps are using the most battery? Maybe some app has gone rogue and is persistently trying to refresh data.

Hello,

Here is the screenshot during the day:

I will try to record the same data during the night with wifi + LTE on.

Thank you

I wonder what Protection is doing during the day that is taking up 10% of battery use. I assume that's some system app -- check its settings to see if something about it is accessing the web frequently throughout the day.

You ultimately may want to try reinstalling the firmware, in case there was something wrong with the install. Use Smart Switch (http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29914) or Odin (http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...w-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html). This also begs the question -- did you ever flash a different variant's firmware, or have you always updated the phone using the official over-the-air updates?

Hello,

ok Thank you, I'll try a complete reinstall.

Yes I did flash a firmware manually (with odin) because when the phone was updated to Android 7 (through OTA), there were a bug so I did a complete reset and install an official firmware with Odin. And then I always uses OTA.

Ok, but you still flashed the official firmware for that exact variant of the phone, and not for a different variant, correct?

Hello,

I've downloaded the last firmware available for my phone on sammobile (SM-G920F, written on the battery)

But the CSC is different than the orignal.

I let it overnight and it losts almost 50%:

I don't know why in the battery menu of Android it says it consums only 5%
The CPU seems to work during the night whereas Doze is activated.

Hello,

In safe mode it was fine so I removed most of my apps and it was still ok (5% lost during the night), I'm trying to install my apps step by step. So far it's still good but I have 5 more apps to install, I'll let you know if I find the guilty one!

Hello,

I reinstall all of my apps and now it works fine. I don't understand... Maybe it was a wifi issue, it seems to depend where I put the phone during the night. With only LTE activated (wifi off) during the night it losts 5-6%

Jean-Paul

It's possible one of those apps accumulated some bad data that was causing issues. Trying to clear the data from all apps would be tedious -- at this point, you can only mass-clear all app caches. So my theory is that some app had some bad data, and disabling it in Safe Mode made the battery drain go away. Uninstalling the app ultimately cleared that data (which also presumes that the app wasn't backing its data up to your Google account), so reinstalling it didn't reintroduce the problem.

Or maybe it was due to aliens.

jean_paul, I was having the same problem with battery drain. I Uninstalled CCleaner and another battery app and my problems were solved. I had read an article about "Cheetah" apps that contain masked videos on banner ads running unseen behind the legitimate ad. Full charge last evening and this morning my icon displayed 92‰.
