I wanted to use my S3 over the weekend, so I shut down the DNA and swapped the SIM over to the S3. When I picked up the DNA again today, the battery was nearly flat. It does this every time. The S3 on the other hand when left shut down always has the same charge on it. Since I swap SIMs in the morning, the phone is just off the charger so I expect when I come back to it that it will be nearly fully charged. Instead it's acting as though it's on standby instead of shut down. What the heck? This is a great phone, but it very definitely has a few problems.

If it does this every time, as you say it does, it sounds to me like there's some sort of issue with the battery or battery level reporting (or, though less likely, an issue with the main board or another component preventing the device from fully powering off). Such was the case when I had similar issues with my Thunderbolt and Galaxy Nexus. If you can reproduce the error with a store employee, you could likely arrange to get a new device under the manufacturer's warranty ? if, of course, that's an option you would be open to.

I think I will do that. I love this phone, but there is some flakiness along with it;

1) Some apps don't play well with the high density display. Mostly games, but I want to play! :) They show up waaaaay too small and yes, I know thats up to the programmer. But still.
2) The discharge thing. That makes me uneasy.
3) App associations. I have a bunch of flvs on out dropbox. They play fine on my S3 just by calling on QQ player to play them. The DNA won't do that. It USED to do that, but something happened and I can't make it work anymore.
4) Holo launcher does not play well with the hi res. It works on the S3 and all my other Android devices.

So, I think I will reluctantly send it back. On the upside, when the Blackberry Z10 comes to the USA I will have the cash to get it! :) I don't know why I'm so excited. I think maybe I'm just bored by Android, in the way I got bored by iOS. I still love the OS, but I'm always looking for something new! Heck, I was looking at the new Lumias.

Do you have fastboot enabled? If so, that is the issue. Fastboot doesn't shut the phone down completely, kind of like sleep mode in Windows.

Has to be because of fast boot, it's enabled by default. Turn it off in settings, power.

I had a large amount of battery drain when sleeping overnight a couple of days ago so last night I turned the phone off and viola, 80% battery drain when the phone was off. I'm going to try turning fastboot off and see if that helps. I received this unit a few days ago as a refurbished replacement, so I hope it isn't a hardware issue.
