Battery Drain while in Standby

When I pulled my phone off the charger this morning it was at 100% charge. I have used it VERY little today as I have been using my iPad and CPU for different things. When I looked at my phone after a couple hours the battery had already drained down to 80%. I decided to reboot and see if this helped any. I let it sit for another 30 minutes and lost another 5% without even touching the phone. What could be causing this? Per Samsung site it should get 400 hours in standby mode, which I'm assuming is phone being on but screen is off. I don't think there is much running in the background other than a weather widget and googles normal sync at this time.

Something else that seems weird that I'm wondering if it is normal has to do with what is draining my battery. Since I got the phone it has been my display draining almost all my battery. Today it is at 85% even though my phone has been in standby most of the day. I have seen it in the mid to upper 90's quite a few times.

Edit: Screenshot It app was cause of my problem not widget locker. Shake for screenshot feature enabled in app was specific cause of problem which has to constantly monitor phone for shaking per developer.

I read somewhere else about widget locker causing standby drain issues so I just disabled that to see if it helps. I do love widget locker so I hope thats not the culprit. I actually only have one widget using it that has to update itself and that is fancy widget for time and weather. Anyone have any thoughts on widget locker?

Widget locker looks like a really nice app. I am kind of scared to try it if it does indeed drain your battery.

I have herd widget locker is a problem for most Androids. Even when I had an Atrix, Another guy in the atrix forums was Pivate messaging me and he told me about how the Widget Locker program screwed everything up on his phone. He was at the verge of sending it back. So I had him reflash the sbf file and restore the factory rom to its normal state. Hes good now, He said he paid for widget locker but wont be using it anymore. Take that for what it is.

Well to be contrary to the general consensus widget locker is not the culprit i have widget locker, beautiful widgets, and launcherpro plus enabled and my phone has been off the charger now for about 10 hours and im at 84% i have noticed no drain issues in fact im thoroughly impressed with the batter in the sense this phone has a huge screen.

either i am lucky or you are unlucky but i love widget locker and it is the my salvation with the phone i love the device but i hate touchwiz/blur/sense and cannot wait for some vanilla roms.

What are your running processes and using the battery?

I turned off widget locker and it does seem better. I will pay attention to it over the next few days and see if it is better. I really do like widget locker and can't stand stock lock screen so hopefully I figure out it is something else. I don't think much was running as it still did it after a reboot. I was losing about 10% an hour without touching the phone for more than a minute or two.

go into settings-> about this phone-> battery use

on average my biggest use is always the display at 78% but i do not have any unusual drain are you using widgets with widget locker or just replacing the lockscreen because mine is just a lockscreen replacement.

My screen usage is always the majority of the use. I think 85% is the lowest I have seen it so far. It does seem to be locker widget though. I had it turned off and wasn't using phone for prob 45 minutes this morning and the battery stayed at 100%. I turned widget locker back on and my battery started to drop down quickly. I'm playing with what widgets I have activated with widget locker now to see if it was just maybe the fancy widget that was causing. That is the only one I had on there that should have any background work to do.

Perhaps that is the issue i did not use any widgets with widget locker i only used it for a lockscreen. and my only other widgets are beautiful widgets weather and clock to update every hour with a dedicated location, launcher pro plus calendar, and a beautiful widget battery widget.

Just let it sit untouched for another hour with widget locker on, but I took fancy widget off. All I had was two slider bars, amazon music widget and lockscreen clock active on it and I lost 8% battery in that hour. As far as homescreen widgets I have Launcher Pro Plus calendar, facebook, and twitter all set to manual update. A couple music control widgets, a battery percent widget and a sticky note widget. I just turned widget locker back off. Anyone else have a recommendation for another lock screen replacement that offers some customization???

what are your sync intervals?

It is setup to auto sync. Is there another setting where you can set an interval? I'm new to android so I'm still learning all the settings.

like your twitter facebook and weather widgets you go into the menu of each app or widget and there will be a setting for sync interval for how often to auto refresh there isnt one in the accounts & sync area but within the individual app or widget there is. i usually set mine to never be more often than every hour

I noticed today my Infuse phone dropped from 100% battery at 6am to almost 10% battery in 10 hours now? I guess I better be looking for battery saving features it has mainly just sat idle with a short phone call or two and I checked MMS picture text some also but not a whole bunch.

thats not a good sign what do you have running? take into account what is autosyncing im at 62% battery been off the charger for 13 hours now with mild use throughout the day.

i have my gmail autosync calendar contacts and email
i have twitter update every hour beautiful widgets every hour and everything else is set to manual update as i do not use them as often but i leave wifi on all day and go in and out of good service area.

I turned the screen brighness to auto and also found my email was updating every 30 minutes. GPS/Wifi was already off we will try that for a day see how it does. It looks like the LCD was eatting most of my battery according to the phone readings.

Just about all my stuff is set to manual sync. I have google services set to sync auto but not Facebook, twitter, etc. My weather app updates hourly. It has to be locker widget. I noticed tonight after phone sitting idle for a while with locker widget on that my phone was fairly warm. Turned it off and it cooled off. Not sure why I have issues with this while others don't.

its possible you got a defective unit you can try a factory reset or return for another. im either lucky or your unlucky its hard to say.

like i said before perhaps it is because i only use widgetlocker for a lockscreen with no widgets.

did you download widget locker through the android market or from amazon?

Through android market. There was an update today so I'm gonna give it another shot.
