Battery drain

Has anyone else started having battery draining problems? Mine has started dropping more. My brother in law is having the same problem.

I'm not doing anything different from what I have been doing since I got it

This will be the Samsuck product that I ever buy... Nothing but problems from the beginning with promises of a fix "coming soon"... Only a few more months and I can trade this piece of junk in...

Oh yeah! I had to get the back panel replaced as it was coming away from the frame near the power button. Turns out my battery had three seperate bulges, which was pushing it apart

Yikes

No, my battery life is pretty much the same even after the Aug security patch.

Depends.
My Note10+ has a fair amount of apps on it. And it is used heavily.
If the phone is used on the 5G network. Yes, very severe power drain. Like from 100% at 6am, to maybe 30% by 11am.

If it is restricted to 4G, then it will last all day, with heavy use.

I'm not a heavy user but battery drain is why I dumped my Note 10 plus 5G for the S20 Ultra 5G....I was VERY disappointed.

You see that's a prime example on how people are achieving different user experiences with battery.

My Note 10+ 5G easily achieves a day and would run at least two days between charges if I wanted.

Battery stats is a subjective topic as we all use our phone's differently and set them up differently.

There's so many battery saving tips out there but the best one I was ever told of was to turn Off the battery % sign in the status bar and just enjoy what the phone brings and charge it when needed. ;)

Most of the excess drains I have had are caused by a flawed update to an app that causes it to pull excessive power in the background and these have generally been fixed in a day or so. With the latest couple of android version the monitoring of such things is so much better however, and instances are much rarer.

Lucckily I have never had a faulty battery.

Have You guys heard about the battery that has been ringing a bell at Oxford university in a sealed jar for the last 180 years by the way?

For at least 6 months I've noticed if I allow the battery to drain down to 3% that it abruptly turns off. I do not leave it on the charger all night or use it while charging. The only difference between my use of my note8 vs note10+ is I only ever charged the note8 on slow wireless charger overnight, occasionally using a wired charger in a pinch. Vs note10+ only using a wired fast charger to charge once a day, often never charging over night, rarely on the same wireless charger. They both have service and I use them interchangeably with exception I have not installed all the junk apps from 8 to 10+

Note8 I get about 2 days ~24 hours on average, 5 hour screen time.
Storage is nearly full as well as 256gb sdcard.
Note10+ I get about 16 hours, 6 hour screen time.
Storage is more than half full, 256gb sdcard 1/4 full.

I read mostly and text, rarely YouTube or games. I do listen to music on the non dominant device while reading.

You shouldn't run down that low but why are you surprised it shuts off a 3%?

Not discharging below 3% is a safety feature. It is at the end of the charging cycle, either way, that the most damage is done to battery longevity.

It took me a while to get the 10+ to the total black/OLED Off for most of my main screens which makes a huge difference. 99% black on a pixel draws power, total black is off.

After a lot of futering about I am getting a little better battery life from the 10+ than the 8 for the same usage thanks to improvements in Android versions along the way.

I don't regularly run the battery down to absolute zero but on rare occasion I will get carried away reading or whatever while not near a charger. I purposely make sure to charge it at 15% now because this happened a few times.
My note 8 doesn't turn off until it's reached 0% with a little wiggle room to find a charger, I'm not surprised so much as concerned that my newer phone has a deficit in total percentage. It wasn't until at least 4 months of ownership that I ever actually "used the phone to death" do to speak, because it had always had more battery than I could ever use. It used to last 36-40 hours when I first got the phone.

When you get down to 5% on your note ultra.
It will come on and tell you to charge your phone.
