just for the hell of it, i downloaded mogl again to see if greenify can keep this sucker in check and it can! i now have the app mogl installed AND it's not hogging any of the power unless i say so.

Hey sorry I couldn't get back to you earlier, was at work. I'm glad you got greenify to work for you, always happy to try and help. I believe when an app is in hibernation, it is still running, but in a state where it will not hog battery for whatever reason. The force stop would completely kill the app, and force it to restart, which sometimes an app will do automatically, thus draining battery more. So greenify will just let it hang out until its called. Don't hold me to this, I'm still pretty amateur and trying to learn things myself. But either way, I'm glad it worked out well for you! If you have any other Nexus 5 questions, I'll be more than happy to try and help!
