For the past week my battery life has gotten bad. Can't tell what's draining it. The only apps I've downloaded recently is flashlight, draw something and aging booth. Oh and I'm currently running thundershed 1.3

Are you overclocking.
Flashed a new kernel
Updated the rom recently

These all can be causes of battery drain

No I didn't do any of those things. I decided to flash a new ROM. Now I'm running bamf 1.10. So far my battery life is back to normal. Thanks for your response.

I'm having the same problem. I've been using the 3++ kernel and BAMF 1.10 for months now and all of a sudden my battery is terrible. My phone went from full charge to 33% and I didn't even touch it. Any ideas?

I have noticed a slight increase in discharge lately as well, I saw a thread blaming it on play store...I wonder if there's merit?

I noticed when I was playing Scramble with Friends that it was eating away my battery pretty quickly. But last night was the worst it has ever been. Lost 67% in 3 hours! And I was asleep so its not like my phone was being used.

The OP of that thread discovered it was the "dialer bug" draining his battery which is a whooooooole 'nother topic (i've recently discovered...yeah i'm catching up.) Apparently the "quick fix" is to reboot your phone after making/receiving a call. I dunno, there's so much speculation about it. The possible culprit could be the stock ROM, custom ROM, apps, Android platform itself, hardware...<sigh> :-\

This morning my Tbolt battery discharged from 100% charge to 29% in 55 minutes.

While this incredibly quick battery drain occurred, I was merely reading news articles with Dolphin HD browser on Verizon's 4G mobile network.

I turned off the phone, removed the battery for about five minutes and had lost another 16% battery charge by the time the phone finished powering on again.

I have been using BAMF 1.10 for a couple of months with no problems and, until today, had been getting battery life of 10 to 12 hours of phone calls, internet browsing, occasional video with MoboPlayer and frequently listening to MP3s with Music player.

I have not downloaded any new apps recently, but had been receiving a lot of notices to update apps from Google Play lately.

Sometimes I updated, sometimes I ignored the updates. I wonder if ignoring the updates caused the battery drain.

Lately I've been engaged in a war with battery life on my phone, having a lot more problems with recent roms.
I've found extremely bad battery drain with any alternate kernals, imos in particular with the exception of the one in thundershed, I also noticed that regardless of the rom both slacker and pandora have been causing my phone to stay awake 100% of the time, after I removed them on the happy trails rom my battery life is now actually very good.

Using spare parts to see apps that are keeping your phone awake and cpu spy to check that the phone is properly going into deep sleep the majority of the time your phone is off helps, if you have no out of control apps the deep sleep in cpu spy should resemble the amount of time the phone has been idle, obviously not 100% there are legitimate background tasks that can wake your phone, checking emails etc, but it should be relatively close.

I've also been looking for alternatives to any apps that display ads as they are normally battery killers.

wow I'm happy I ran into this thread.

I just 2 days ago downloaded juice defender (using the balanced mode) for the first time, as I too am experiencing unusual batt drain.

bamf forever 1.10 + zigg kernal (been running same rom & kernal for months now).

whole time i've been thinking maybe it's due to a recent app I downloaded - could not correlate to anything.

anyone else here using Juice Defender, and recommends to use/not to use, or activate a different setting (i'm currently on "balanced")

now that i'm subscribed to this thread, I'll want to see if we hit a solution.

btw, about kernals... has anyone tried 3++ and ziggy and can say what think is better or preferred with bamf 1.10?

3++ causes my phone to freeze whether I oc or not. I've always had good luck with imo sense kernel...the one before the most recent one. I've never tried the ziggy kernel.

My phone flew with better battery life to boot in thundershed but voice to text was unreliable with background noise (especially in a moving car when i actually need it). Coming back to sense is a total drag with its lag and horrible battery life but trying to scream voice to text in my car got old really fast. I never realized how much i liked it til it was gone.

This is not just a problem for all you rooted folks, I too have noticed substantial battery drain during the day. I am Unrooted currently and about 2 days after the switch to Google Play or the "Play Store" as you may call it, that my battery would lose 25% with data, wifi, GPS, auto sync, roaming, Bluetooth, call sounds, notification sounds, and keyboard vibration all turned off and not using the phone at all. So that cuts out some of the many wondered questions being thrown around in our heads.. I wouldn't doubt that Google Play has something to do with this problem.. and that the older the phone is, the more the update affected the battery life. :(

btw, after hopping onto this thread last time, I disabled play store of notifying me of updates to my apps.

Now, I'll just go in manually every 2 days or so, check, and if an app needs, i'll update it (after checkout out reviews).
though, I sill did see the play store running in background :-(
