Battery Draining Very Fast

My friend has a Moto Z Play for Verizon and after the update in March it seems the better has been terrible. She used to get about a day out of the phone and now its only a few hours. It also sometimes it shuts off randomly when its still at like 50%. She has talked to Verizon many times and they said they ran a check and the battery is fine. She did a factory reset and it almost seems like it got worse. Does anyone have the same issues or any ideas? The phone is completely stock. Thanks.

After the factory reset did she reinstall the same set of apps from the Play Store? If Backup My data was selected in Settings before the factory reset Android will just start downloading the same apps all over again. If one of those is the problem it may have re-downloaded and still causing the issue.

What about running in Safe Mode for a while? When in Safe Mode the phone will not run Play Store apps, only the apps that came preinstalled. See how it runs for a while and if the battery drain occurs or not. If the problem does not occur when running in Safe Mode for a while that usually points to a Play Store app as the cause of the issue, not always but usually.

Unfortunately it occurred while also in safe mode and she only selected a few apps to be downloaded after the reset
