I'm on a field trip and I have my phone plugged into an external battery quick charger. I have lots 4 percent while writing this. Any advice on what you do? I tried closing all of the apps and restarting the phone.

Lost 5 percent

Location settings? If you're out and about, location stuff can drain quite quickly.

Also, is the cable in good shape?

Is there a blockage, too much dust, etc, in the charging port?

I would ask about the cable.. The few times that's happened to me it was either the cable or the power bank wasn't putting out enough power.

I use the OEM lg cable. It was fine. I switched power banks and it got better.
Even the OEM cable can eventually go bad, but perhaps isn't the case here. When you switched power banks and it got better, do you mean it's back to normal or it's the problem still there to a lesser extent? If it's back to normal, then that power bank may be wearing out.

I feel like it's lg. I've had similar problems with my v10 and g4. But of course I'm not going anywhere.... As you can see

I know LG seems to be overly aggressive with thermal protection when charging. Even if the Quick Charge icon is on, you can forget it if the screen is on. With the V20 and my G4, it would cut the charge rate in half if the screen was on and drop from there if you were actually using it and it even thought about getting warm. To the point it was pretty much a trickle charge, but it wouldn't actually lose charge if the cable was good. If you want the full benefit of quick charging, you'll want the screen off (but the phone itself can remain powered on) and cool.

But what's the point of that? Lol I love lg but that's one of my biggest issues. Probably why the battery drains quickly too.
