Yesterday I bought some much needed appliances during the Sears Presidents Day weekend sale (great deals, BTW), and I joined their rewards program which gives 1% cash back on purchases. No credit card, just cash back rewards (like with Costco). They have an app to keep track of your earned $$, called Shop Your Way, so I installed it.
Got up this morning, worked on remodeling the basement and when I quit I noticed my phone was down to 67% battery after just 7 hours. Thing is, I hadn't used my phone at all during this period, and my battery is typically much higher after this type of usage. When checking the battery stats, the new app had logged 2 hours of keep awake time, and was responsible for 20% battery usage. The only time I opened the app was so set it up last night (for about 5 minutes), and before I went to bed I had rebooted my phone (which I do each night). I've since deleted the app.
Just a heads up to watch your phone's response after installing a new app. Some are definitely system obtrusive.
