Has anyone else experienced battery issue after the gingerbread update.

For example getting a false reading on the percentage of battery still available after shutting the phone down. Prior to shutting down for a reboot, the battery percentage is 40% and once it booted back up it shows 70%

Is there a fix for this?

Thank you in advance.

I had the same thing happening with Froyo, but mostly after reinserting the battery, now I occasionally have the same issue as you just described. I am not sure what's causing it and I'd like it to be fixed.
Edit:
Just restarted my phone, it was 50% now after restart it shows 80%

yes this exact thing happens to my phone as well. i am not complaining though as my battery is still at 70% 1 day and 2 hours after being charged and moderate usage.

Mine does that same thing almost after every reboot, it is starting to get annoying.

Also another issue I noticed recently is with Launcher Pro, when I open the app drawer in portrait mode, and rotate to landscape, only one icon shows it seems like everything is stacked on top of one another. They fix to that is to touch the screen, but it was not the case before. I am wondering if I need to re-download Launcher pro.

If you have root access I've read you can delete a batterystats.bin file to force a recal on the battery. You then have to run through a procedure of running down the battery till the device powers off and then do a full charge. Now if this will fix the issue I'm not sure.

I have seen the same thing though, but it doesn't bug me much so I haven't messed w/ clearing the batterystats file.

I had an issue similar a while back. I did a backup from LP, cleared app data, and then restored the backup. It fixed what ever got messed up.

Funny, but since installing the GB upgrade, my previously hideous battery life has actually become pretty good. FAR better than before, when I couldn't go 8 hours without tapping out the battery completely.

I completely agree, the battery life is significantly better, but a accurate read on the battery life percentage would be wonderful.

It is nothing more then a minor inconvenience. I am sure the battery needs to be re-calibrated, but I am not rooted, so I can not delete the prior file that is there about the battery stat.

I still love the phone and the update, it is just some minor things here and there that get annoying.

its a known issue on the leaked and official GB as far as the reading on XDA goes. they posted a battery fix that requires installing the zip file fix in CWM recovery. the fix works for some, for me it didnt. once i installed the Alien 3 ROM vs the stock GB one, its back to normal. the ROM developer included the fix in the ROM itself.

before installing Alien 3, i tried the fix a few different times, recalibrating the battery and everything. none of it worked.
