Battery Issues on Sprint?

Hey guys,

Been lurking recently and finally decided to post. I love my Moto X on Sprint, however, I'm concerned about my battery life. I've only had the phone a few days. I've gotten 15-16 hours of battery life but with only 1.5 hours of screen time before I plug in while I sleep. I have not gotten the 15 hours of battery with 5-6 hours of screen time as many other posters have so I'm a bit concerned.

Today, I decided to test out the battery while I was at a day long conference listening to lectures. Started off with 100% battery, made a 30 min phone call in the morning on the way to the place, used GPS for 10 mins. Location services on, Wifi off, blue tooth off, active notifications on, touchless controls on, auto-brightness and was on 3G all day today with about 3-4 bars of service on Sprint. I ran TED talk videos on mute throughout the day to see what kind of battery performance I could get. Also had G-Mail syncing and did some light web browsing. Below are my battery stats and I'm wondering if these are good or should I be concerned about the battery. After today, I'm don't think I'll get the battery life of many others on this forum. I appreciate everyone's input.

According to what I get I think this is pretty good. That's pretty heavy use.

I'm getting 6-7hrs lately but that's just emails, text, social media. On WiFi

Your use is a little heavier so id expect the drop. My battery also got better with time.

True, I do agree it was heavy use with streaming over 3G, but seemed like people were getting 4-6 hours of screen time with 15-16 hours total before having to plug in. Today, I've gotten about 8 hours total with 4.5 hrs screen time which was worrisome after reading the other battery posts.

The battery issues wouldn't get 4.5hrs screen time to my knowledge. Year out on the weekend. Stay on WiFi keep use heavy just avoid steaming and see how it does. I bet 5.5hrs

I was lurking in LG G2 forum last night and with that bit ole battery they barely get screen time we do. They just get longer idle numbers. Pound for pound I think this is the best all around phone out.

The only time I saw significant battery drain on mine was when it was trying to download a large text message pic someone sent to me when I had bad service and auto download pics was set.

App usage at 47%? If app usage is higher than screen I'd look into that..

WiFi or LTE I don't think 18 hours with 5-6 hours screen time should be a problem at all.
Yeah, at 4 hours 39 mins @ 91% that would equal btwn 5 and 6 hours for total battery, and that?s what others here are getting regardless of carrier. As for total hours, obviously if you?re having 5 hours of screen time the battery won?t be lasting 18 hours so i think it's the norm.

Cool. From my short 2-3 week experience so far with my Moto X I have been averaging around 6 hours of screen time for 14-18 hours of on time. I'm not really seeing much of a difference using WiFi or LTE. I have had a couple of 8 hour screen time days but I feel comfortable that I can do 6 hours consistently. Not sure but I don't think that I have ever had my battery down below 20%. For mine anyway the lower it gets the longer it seems to last if that makes any sense.
yeah, i had a bimbo moment. lol. that's exactly what i'm getting, 5 hours screen time and 17 hours. what the.... lol.

So yes OP, yours isn't looking so good. We're both at 8-9%, similar screen time, but overall time drastically different. And i think i started a little under 100%. I am with Sprint. Keep trying a few more days.

I'll give it some more time, but I think my battery is a dud. I've been on Wifi mostly today with minimal screen time and don't see it getting the performance that paisley and grants82 are getting. My app usage also seems very high esp Android OS as mentioned above. What do I do about that? How have people dealed with taking their phone back? Were you required to pay the $35 re-stocking fee or will they swap out the phone for free?

It is a dud. I had the same issue with my AT&T. It should kill those numbers, return that phone. If Sprint jacks you around, call Moto directly.

this may sound crazy, but any chance the battery meters are weird? my battery meter does really weird things, i'll have 15%, then 4, then 13. What about a factory reset? Is your phone quality good to people on the receiving end? if so, i'd double and triple check that battery really is a dud before exchanging, you don't wanna get one of those with the sound issue. and fwiw, i exchanged a phone at Sprint yesterday easy peasy, but was under my 2 weeks, not sure where you're at with yours.

i believe the battery meters are working correctly. I have not seen it jump around in the battery %. Paisley, any suggestions on how to triple check it besides factory resetting and seeing what happens with the battery life? I have until next Friday to return it within my 14 days, but I'm going out of town on Wed so will probably decide and make a move this weekend or early next week.

does moto have a way of checking the battery if I call their support? someone mentioned that they took control of their phone and ran some tests?
