I find myslef charging my brand new LG G6 H870DS during the afternoon. It hasn't lasted me a full day since i got it 4 days ago. Quick charge charges my phone quick but as quick as it takes to charge is as quick as the battery will be draining. Fortunately i have a 30 day warranty, should i request a replacement?

Give us screenshoot of your screen on time.
And the phone is new you will see after two weeks hows the battery hanging.

yup, unfortunately that's about what mine has looked like for 8 months now . . definitely not a battery champ, although my other phone is a Z2play and regularly get 8-10 hours screen on time, so I have high expectations 🙄

I've tried greenify and a bunch of other things suggested in these forums, in some cases I have seen better battery life, but to me if I have to jump through a bunch of hoops and turn off this and that, then it's not worth it to me.

In my use case, if I'm using the phone steadily I get better screen on time, if I use it sparingly the battery just sucks in stand by mode . . highest usage in my stats is always "phone idle", and I don't think there's much you/I/we can do about that.

To answer your question though, what I'm trying to say is that in my experience that's just the way this battery is, but if you want to try a replacement maybe you'll luck out, but I wouldn't expect too much more than what you're seeing. I'm sure someone will come on here after me and start screaming about all the things they've done to get awesome battery life, and if you want to try it that's fine, but to me there's always outliers and chasing those can be a pretty unsatisfying venture.

I would tend to say I doubt "Oreo" will help battery life alot, maybe some, but not significantly.
Here's an example of what I was talking about of the strange-ness of this battery. Yesterday I made it mostly through a full day but only had 3 hours of screen on time. Today I've used the phone almost constantly, I got over 6 hours of screen on time but only made it 8+ hours total. Weird, but what it says is the stand-by battery consumption is pretty bad, imo

wow that is strange. And yes phone idle takes a significant amount of percentage points, at least for me.

This is exactly my experience. If I have to tinker too much, or stop using certain things, it stops being a smartphone. I use the zerolemon case on days that I need to make it past 10pm without a charger. On days that I'm around my desk a lot, I keep it on wireless charger to keep it topped off.

With the way tech is trending, I don't see this changing. If you want truly great battery life, need to get a phone that is only 1080p screen, and has a snapdragon 600 series chip like the BB Key One or the Moto Play series. It's either optimal specs and performance, or great battery life, without innovation of batteries, I don't see us getting best of both worlds anytime soon.

Very true unfortunately. But i really really hope Android 8 will have a positive impact on these issues with the LG G6

You never know, it still might help to improve battery life! I've had updates that have helped my battery for sure. It's kind of a gamble when it comes to updates. Hope it works out for you! :)
