Getting Heartrate from Samsung to Fit

My primary exercise app is Google fit because I have used heart points for many years to meet my goals.

I have an s26u for Samsung Health which reads steps and heartrate data fro Galaxy watch 5 pro.

The problem is Samsung doesn't allow fit, which is installed on my watch, to read heartrate which is constantly read and recorded by samsung health on watch with syncs with Samsung Health on s26u.

Enter google health connect app to read and share data from samsung health on s26u to google fit. Fit needs constant pulserate and activity data to assign heart points accurately.

The trick is to set up Health connect permissions perfectly to allow fit to read heartrate.

I have it set so Samsung writes all data to health connect and reads all data from Health connect. Fit is set to only read all data. NOPE. Now I lost all steps recorded by fit. So I allowed fit to read all data and write steps and activity.

At first it worked and fit gave me bonus pts and normal heart points. Then steps in fit goes to zero and I lose all bonus points. Then fit only records steps for the rest of the day. The steps keep changing in fit and reverting to 0.

Can anyone tell me the correct setup in health connect so Fit gets and keeps both steps and pulserate data all day?

Every time I mess with a setting in health connect I lose all my steps!!! I'd like fit to read steps and heartrate from samsung health but it apparently can read pulse but not steps from samsung health?

Does anyone know how to set this up so everything works?

Maybe permission(s) in Samsung Health are causing Fit to get the zero steps in the event Health Connect is trying to read the steps from Samsung Health and Health permission may have unknowingly after an update reverted to no read access?

I'm not sure why Samsung Health needs to have read from Health Connect since Samsung Health is the primary activity and health data source.

Please know these are just initial thoughts and in no way being critical about the issues you are experiencing as I would also be frustrated, or troubleshooting you can done so far. I do hope you get this solved as I'm sure your configuration once working as expected will help others.

The article below does suggest to contact Google Health Connect via the send feedback option, so maybe someone at Google Health Connect team could assist.

The bigger question is why does Fit have to have write permission at all yet without it Fit reads 0 steps.

Try to clear cache and data from Health Connect and then add all permissions again. I had issues too between Samsung Health and Google Fit and that helped.

What are your settings in Health Connect for which things read and or written for Fit and Samsung Health?

That didn't work for me. I had to change Samsung to write only, except steps and Fit to read only but write steps. Mine came out correct today however they often change at midnight so I'll see later.

I just enabled all permissions in Health Connect for Samsung and Fit.
Well... I had my points and steps but the gods of Health Connect took them away again.

I just tried your suggestion... I cleared cache and date of Health Connect and gave full read and write permission to Samsung Health and fit.

Just to be clear, you gave both read and write permission for everything to both Samsung Health and Fit and now Fit works again and gives you heart points? I don't care about any if the rest of it, just the heart points but to keep those I guess I have to keep the steps and heart rate while exercising?

In my case, I use an app from my health insurance provider that gives points for physical activities. It uses Google Fit data. But I use Samsung Health on my watch as activity tracking source. So, all three apps are connected through the Health Connect. When I upgraded to S26U, the Fit stopped providing data, even if all permissions were set properly. Clearing Health Connect data helped to restore data sharing between apps. Yes, I enabled all permissions, even I don't use all of them.
It worked for me. Hopefully it will solve your problem.

Thanks! I'll hope for the best. Some sources I've read say to have one app write with no read permission and the other app read with no write permissions. That said, actual human experience from a user is far better so I chose all for read and write on both apps like you did.

Fingers crossed!

Clearing the cache in Health Connect worked!

Have you noticed that giving read and write permissions to both Fit and Samsung Health within Health Connect causes your step count to double in Fit?

You get the correct step count in Fit? I Find Samsung is correct and Fit is double. I know you use a 3rd app and that is correct but I'm surprised fit is with everything allowed because it counts fit steps and samsung steps and adds them late at night. Pulse syncs immediately. Fit imports Samsung steps after 9 pm.

Maybe you disallowed Fit app itaelf to count steps?

They are different, but not double. For yesterday I have a 11881 steps for Samsung Health and 12447 for Fit.
