This was directly from a Sprint store. My battery lasts for over a day now

CALIBRATING A 3 CELL BATTERY (HTC EVO)

1. With the phone in the on position.

Fully charge the battery with the phone on...(until the led turns green)

Once the led turns green, unplug the charger until the led goes off.

After the led goes off, plug the charger back in. When the led turns green, power off the phone. Now... with the phone fully powered off...

1.1 Unplug the charger.

2. Wait until led goes off.

3. Plug charger back in until led turns green. When it turns green, turn on the phone unplug the charger again and go to step 1.

4. Repeat steps 1 and 3, 10 times This may take anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 mins. per cycle. Typically only about 1 minute though.

Thanks... Even though this has been posted before, there are many guests and members who haven't seen this before.

Just a quick question what does doing all this do to the battery it sounds like your just taking away from the 2000 or more charges the battery has away quicker no? But hey im no expert on batteries lol

You can do the same thing by getting a desk top charger you don't have to do all that. Basic the EVO won't top off the battery the software stops the charging process before the battery reaches full charge that is why the battery drops 10 to 15% in the first few minutes of use. All these battery % issues are real non issues IMHO just use the phone the small amount of gain that I have experienced only amounts to an hour or less of battery life not real worth the hassle but its up to you to decide I am just one man's opinion

Cool

P.S. This is old news but it doesn't hurt to bring it up again for those who missed it and for those who are new to the forums.

Thanks for the info I would rather buy a Hugh battery then have to do that plus its safer then the battery trickle hack I have been seeing but thanks for posting op didn't know that someone could do this

I'm with Big D. All you need is another battery (you can get a cheap hero battery online) and an external battery charger (also cheap online) which will charge the battery fully unlike the phone itself. I just grab the one off the charger in the morning before i leave. No need for all that plugging business.

Just to let you all know phones been uplugged for 6 hours and only lost 10% of the charge. You guys do what you think but this worth a try if you dont want to buy a new battery.

Never actually understood this method.... Your basically spending close to 1/2 an hour unplugging, plugging, powering on and off your phone to get an extra what 10% battery life?

I have found the BEST way is to buy a second battery and get a wall charger JUST FOR THE BATTERY so you can charge a spare battery without the phone. Swap batteries as needed and you basically never need to do all this and it takes a minute to reboot your phone with a fresh new battery and your good to go.. Even with HEAVY use your spare will be ready by the time your phone is dead....

What baffles me is the inconsistency of the battery/phone. Last night I did the same thing I always do - I put the phone in airplane mode and this morning took the phone off airplane mode. Normally it will drop a little (10-15%) - this morning I woke up to 36% (it started at 100%). Settings are the same, yet the results are drastically different.

Is this is what people refer to as 'bump charging' ?

I never charge my battery through the phone unless Im in a jam. I use my Seidio desk top charger to charge both my batteries.

Thanks. New EVO owner. I'll do this just because I have free time now, Hope it helps my battery life because it sux really bad right now...

Love everything else about the EVO tho.

I thought battery was going to be a huge problem, but 7 hours with 4G on nonstop browsing is more than enough. But I work in an office so I can leave it to charge

EXACTLY!!! The best way to go... I picked up a Seidio back up batter and the desk top charging station.. I never charge the battery in the phone I just swap out batteries every morning before I leave for work... if I get home at 5:30 - 6:00 and I know I am going out say on Friday.... When I leave the house again at 9 or 10 I just swap out batteries again so I have a fully charged and ready to roll battery and by the next morning..... The other battery is again fully charged and ready to go again...

None of this nonsense of plugging it up until it turns green, then unplug wait 60 seconds and plug it back up.. wait until its green again, unplug and power off the phone.. plug it back up again and again wait for it to turn green and then power it up unplug again plug it back up and wait for it to turn green............ REALLY? Spend $50 - 60 and get a spare battery (a good quality battery) and a desktop charger...

This is easy enough to try while at work...I'm all for saving $50-$60 if all it means is ten minutes partially paying attention to the procedure....which I just performed and well definitely post back w/ anything new noticed.
