Just got the new update a few days ago. Seems like my battery life drains quicker as a result. Anyone else notice this? Thanks Samsung...

Before you blame Samsung, try restarting your phone a couple of times. I know when you put a new rom on a phone, it takes a while for the system to settle. I'm not sure why, but I would restart your device two or three times, maybe make a call or check facebook or something in between restarts. Try it and report back!

To clear up battery usage and other quarks, you should do a factory reset. Anytime you do a major software update you should do a factory reset, if cleans up caches and other memory registers. And make for a cleaner install.

You're hardcore, man! I hate doing factory resets. I agree that it's the best way to get a clean install, but I've found a couple of reboots is all it normally takes. If that doesn't work, I agree, reset before you blame Sammy.

You have to do what you have to do. If you sync your phone with Google and do a backup, doing a factory reset is not that bad.

How do you do a backup?

My Note 3's battery life sucks since lollipop as well.

I back up two ways I keep my phone synced with Google and this take care of my apps and photos. I also use Titanium Backup this app does require the phone to be rooted though. This back up my data, apps and apps data, I then copy this off phone to someplace safe like my PC. Then when I Factory Reset the first thing I do is create my Google settings and this syncs my email account and downloads all may app for me. Then if something is missing I can copy the Titanium Backup back to the phone and restore from there.

Ok but if I'm syncing everything with Google basically I should be good right?

Scroll, down the list to see what is using the battery there should be one listed for Cell Standby, this should be close to the amount of time since the battery was last charged.

my battery life is still draining quicker. I don't want to do a factory reset either. I guess I'll just have to deal with it. for shame, samsung.

Factory reset did NOT fix the battery drain on my phone. Before the update if I left for work with 100% I would get home with 70-75%. Now even after doing a factory reset, when I get home I am always under 50%. Thats also with less use because I know its draining faster.

My wife was complaing about the poor battery life after the update and I did a factory reset on her phone. She said today that the battery seemed to be back to normal.

Wow... My battery life is great since update..... Easily all day and then some... I plug it in at 10% or less
