Battery Life discussion thread.

I'm starting to see a trend here with people getting over 6 hours of SOT, and that's social media apps. I'm going to disable the Facebook app for a day and just use Chrome instead and see if that's the culprit.

Use The Browser for Facebook , Cause Facebook app is a battery hogger.

They absolutely should have bumped out the back and added more battery.

What would you have done with a battery bigger than a 4500 mah ?

I was gonna give my son my surface tablet.
He said he don't have internet..wasn't gonna pay for it.
I said hot spot it.
Asked do you know how to use windows 10.
No !
I use my iPhone.
He said he didn't think he has enough time left on his data plan to do that.

He's a truck driver.
He said in the last 3 weeks he's used 94gb data.on tmobile.

I asked, do you ever go to bed.

I will just keep the Microsoft surface.

I have whatsapp , Facebook, Instagram, telegram, groupme , battery life still good

The only issue there is you can't use Gif's on the browser, or on facebook lite.
As crazy as it is that's a reason I keep the battery hog Facebook app too. I've tried a bunch of the alternative apps and they have the same limitations. Lol

Yesterday I did a factory reset through the settings and via recovery for good measure and wiped cache also. I then setup the device manually app by app via the Google play store and only downloaded what is essential after reading other people on previous Samsung devices had battery life issues after using Smart Switch. The only items I restored via Samsung Cloud was call logs and SMS messages.

I have the device on Optimized and Adaptive power saving turned on. I have put probably 80% of my apps into Deep sleep. I have also setup Bixby Routines to keep Mobile Data turned off while at home and to only use Wi-Fi, on top of keeping Bluetooth and NFC turned off and changing AOD to tap to show, instead of always show. I am using 120hz and FHD+ on a a factory Unlocked 128gb Note20 Ultra, snapdragon 865+.

With all of that said and while the device still says "learning usage patterns" I still have only got 4 hours and 52 minutes of screen on time with 10% battery left. I am truly at a loss and have no idea how to make the battery of this device any better.

If its still learning then it will take time to stabilize to know where you'll be.

If you don't use auto mode for brightness could lead to batt drain as this panel bright , if not getting 5g in your area might want toggle the ones only for LTE/4g/3g settings.

Screen timeout default 30 seconds or 1 minute tops

Then also look at apps high on battery stats , device care can tell you apps that been crashing without you knowing to know any app issue, there are more but not coming to me at the moment.

I have Bixby Routines setup to kill all mobile data while at home. Yes auto brightness is enabled and screen timeout is 1 minute, but I always turn it off immediately when I'm not using it. The only thing I can think of is the Facebook app, but I also have it setup as a Deep sleeping app so it's only using battery while in use.

But I did notice it says the Facebook app has more time active in background then it does while being used, how can this be if I have it setup as a Deep sleeping app and I always close all the apps prior to turning off the screen?

Ever thought that a app that monitors battery along with androids battery monitor might actually be the cause? Also how is your signal levels? That plays the biggest roll outside of screen time.

Long press facebook then tap info > scroll to battery and tap turn off background toggle

I tried out of curiosity to uninstall the GSam battery app and realised that I also had accubattery running in the background so uninstalled that too.
Battery life is decent but I would like standby to be a bit better but we probably have to wait for Samsung to optimise everything before we see much improvement.

With standby you may never see improvement. The SoC has a mini power draw and it doesn't touch an Apple chip.

I don't care about crApple chips whatsoever but I'm sure standby can be improved on the Note 20 Ultra and we can get it optimised to close to Note 10 plus performance, anyway, it is only a wet week old so let's see what Samsung comes up with.
