Battery Life Fix!

Im assuming you sent to Settings>Apps>running, but after that where did you look to see who if anyone was syncing?

No I went to main menu for apps, opened each app and the went in to each individual apps settings, usually the three little dots and checked for updates / sync and evaluated how often I really needed things to update. Did I really need things up dating every 15 minute or would an hour or update on opening work. I probably had at least 20 apps updating hourly or less. Most of them I just set to update on opening.

I don't really us google plus so I just signed out. Facebook I just have updated on opening. I shut off all GPS and location services. I might turn one back on just to see how it impacts battery life.

Both are on wifi.
Do I need to disable the 3g/4g or does it disable when on wifi?
Well the phone has radios running your table doesn't even have. They are drawing power for voice and SMS even if the data is going through WiFi. I'm no expert but I would think airplane mode would be the only way to get close to a "apples to apples" comparison. Right now you might be comparing apples to cars for all I know. LOL

Disable Google Plus! I have had it like this for a day now,and my battery life has increased 4-5 hours! Believe me or not I honestly don't care. Setting-Apps-All-Google Plus-Disable-???-PROFIT!

Ya that makes sense but I wouldn't think it would by that much of a difference.
Maybe I will charge them both up and do it overnight, I can't have my phone disabled during the day lol

**well I charged my phone and in 52 mins just sitting there, no calls no texts no use at all it used up 8%
That seems a bit high for not using the phone and that is the extended battery.

**2nd test from 100% and wifi off my phone dropped only 5% in 54 minswith no use

Are there any improvements with regards to USB charging with the G+ fix? Is charging working better for pc usb ports and other 3rd party chargers?

8:48 battery / 3:20 OS awake.
Screen time is 1:09.
I'm at 35%.

There is a hint more awake time than screen time, most of that was this morning when I was on wifi at home.

Disabling Google+ (and location services) has made a difference, but there is still something going on. The OS is still keeping the phone awake a lot. :-\

Op hit that one on the head. Google+ drains my battery so bad that I'm forced to install it only on my iPod touch. Perhaps this was the reason that Google included app disabling on the Galaxy Nexus. Seeing that they had to include Google+, they didn't want everyone having subpar battery lives. I doubt that manufacturers/carriers will include the ability to disable apps in their custom skinned, bloated, watered down versions of ICS.

I hope Google will fix Google plus for ICS. That way we can use it and not have to disable it.

Do you still have google location services running? I've noticed that disabling google location services (not just GPS) is a major improvement on the battery, because they will use any network you are near to determine location (wifi, tethered, 1x, EVDO, LTE, etc).

I disable all location services by default and only enable GPS when I need to use Maps.

How is your battery life now guys? Mine is 18 hours and 17% left normal usage.

I disabled Google+ and VZW Backup and I don't know for sure but it does seem to help. I also turned off all the location services. I believe last night I was around 18 hours and 10% battery life left which was a pretty good improvement.

Thanks for the tips!

My battery life is pretty good. I have an extended battery. My phone gets some fairly decent use through out the day as well. I average a good 15 hours a day.

I disabled vzw backup the first day I had the phone. I've left Google+ running.

After having the same issues, down to 20% battery after 6 hours of use with the extended battery, I decided to wipe my device and start over.

This time, I did not install widgets, light flow and other similar type apps. I just my must have apps, Evernote, dropbox, 3 gmail and one exchange account, 1password, google voice, Amazon App store, Camera FX, CamScanner, Documents to go, Speedy uploader, swiftkey X, Any.do, GroupMe, CallTrack, and aCar.

The widgets I am running are the GoogleVoice widget, any.do widget, 2 built-in gmail widgets (2 different gmail accounts), built-in calendar widget and built in bookmark widget.

I am now at 6hrs 11min and battery is at 77% available, I have been on Wifi this entire time.

I am doing Facebook, twitter and G+ on the mobile sites, works great, using the ICS browser.

I have the extended battery and run the screen on auto.

Not bad, VERY happy!

Will freezing the app via Titanium Backup or Root Explorer completely stop the background data of apps?
