Battery life impressions for the Moto X Play

Re: Battery life impressions!

And getting better every day :) Play Services and Android System are kind of settling down after a week of use.

Re: Battery life impressions!

Definitely getting better.

Re: Battery life impressions!

Hi guys. I finally decided to get one too, and It's already come. I also ordered a gel case for this model but it hasn't come yet, so today, I left my X Play at home with only 4g on. After idling from 7:30am till 11:00pm, the battery went down ONLY by 5%.

My Droid RAZR Maxx HD would go down by at least 10% on 3g. That's absolutely brilliant. With my usage and proper settings I think I can do magic with this one.

Oh, and maybe this can be useful for those who suffered too much lags in Chrome. Launch Chrome, go to settings and switch "Merge tabs and apps" option off. After doing that, I went to the 3 sites that people around were mentioning: Android Central, PhoneArena, and The Verge, and I noticed only some minor lags due to pages' loading. However, this will cause your Chrome to appear as a whole app in "recent apps slider", not as separate tabs. Personally, I prefer it this way (got used to it on my Droid).

Cheers guys and have a good night.

Do you mean merge tabs and aps switched to on as it is by default? I always turn this off but after your post I turned it on and I think chrome is noticeably smoother! So I'll try get used to it and thanks for the heads up!

Re: Battery life impressions!

I switched the merging off so that Chrome is treated as one window in the slider, and the tabs aren't scattered there. This helped me. Overall, I'm really satisfied with the phone. Oh, and I've just installed Droid Turbo's circle widget :)

Ah OK. I have merged tabs switched off and chrome is laggy. Switched it back on and thought it was a little better so thought that's what you meant!

Re: Battery life impressions!

It's difficult for me to define my usage, but I will say this: I bought the Play because my Nexus 5 would rarely manage a working day. With the same use, the Play uses about 30% battery, leaving 70%unused and easily goes for 2 full days. It is slower and less smooth than the Nexus but not so much that it bothers me.

Re: Battery life impressions!

Well, you can then try to score 3 full days. Charging the battery every 3 days instead of 2 will surely increase its life span ;)
I left mine at home again when I was going to work (still don't have the gel case) at 91%, I've just come back and it's at 89% O_O (only 4g on, and Droid Turbo's Circle widget working). When I start using it my normal way, I will easily score at least 7 days.

I'm really happy with my purchase (via Moto Maker in the UK, all black, 32GB).

Re: Battery life impressions!

Anyone have link to the droid circle widget?

Re: Battery life impressions!

This is my first cycle. Got the play services drain, but apps have still been updating. Turned location off and that seemed to help. Still happy with the battery, especially considering the bad reception I have here.

Re: Battery life impressions!

Yeah, not bad. The battery will suffer with that poor signal.

I love this phone. Smashed it today, poor reception, constant Bluetooth music streaming and normal work and emails. Still has plenty of juice!

Re: Battery life impressions!

With my usual light usage I scored an impressive 11 full days.
I didn't manage to take a screenshot before it turned off so I plugged it in, turned it on after 3 minutes, and made screenshots. It gave me a weird line at the end, these built-in stats are crazy (everything was running fine all the time, the only small red signal stripes were me traveling by the tube. I don't know why but it also showed me that wifi was on all the time which is not true, it was on only for app updates :)
And for those who are "hyped" by screen on time, I post a second screenshot, it doesn't include the first day as Android resets all timers if the phone is switched off while over 90%.

This phone definitely stays with me although it's a little too large, I'll get used to it.

Impressive! Check in WiFi advanced settings and turn off scanning always available (if its on). That might make WiFi switch off fully in battery stats

Done before first charging. After last night's charge, it still shows that. NVM ;)
Today I used it a bit more, it went down from 100% to 89%. Still much better than Droid RAZR Maxx HD.
