This is a new replacement X from Motorola. I've had it about a month now.
As someone who works from home, I never paid much attention to the battery life discussions.
This past weekend, I forgot to take my car charger on a 1-day flight up to Northern California (flew back the same night). Man, I realized first hand this phone just does NOT last.
I used the phone a lot during the morning for everything from showing boarding passes, navigation, texting, emailing, etc. The battery was low within a few hours -- actually, the screen on time was around 1 hour 48 minutes.
Bump charged it to 98% while eating breakfast at Mimi's Cafe (thanks to Mimi's Cafe for the wall plug).
Battery low again within hours (not many). In the early afternoon, I had to start relying on my iPad to do in-car navigation & other tasks because I was afraid my phone would die.
That's when stuff looks bad for a product ... when you feel forced to use other equipment because the damn thing just can't handle the job. :'(
