Five hours of SOT is awesome with 20% battery left. But what's with this "cell standby?" What the heck is that anyway?

I'm on Verizon in NYC if that matters.

Just that you use wifi alot most likely (i can only guess due to your screenshot shows you were using wifi at the time)

What is it about being on wi fi that runs up cell standby?

As per your screenshot, you are using Wifi and Cellular data at the same time, I'd advice you to look for the different threads that talk about cell standby, you should have one of those settings as default, if you do some tweaks you may control that.

Also, try doing a Wipe cache partition in recovery mode and after reboot charge it to 100% and see after that.

Is there a way to completely turn off cell data while on wifi?

Do you guys switch off mobile data when your on wifi or does it even make a difference .?

It shouldn't make a difference. On AT&T if you are on wifi the LTE antenna turns off and is no longer listed.

On verizon . And when I enable wifi my 4glte is still lit up and is constantly switching between 3g and 4g. The reason it's switching between the two is because of my signal is not that good at home. My old phone would grey out the 4g when I switched on wifi. Are others on verizon seeing this too or is it just me.?

Yes, I see it too. There's no reason the phone should be using any mobile data whatsoever when you're on wifi.
