Overall my battery life has been decent since the update. Today, I was at 50% at lunch time, even tho I hardly used the phone. Facebook and Messenger were the two highest culprits.

To "goonieboy2008" - First of all uninstall them, 'couse "Stop" is help for several minutes. From my experience with LG we need waiting for update of upgrade

Since i reset my phone yesterday morning all seems going perfect with battery life. Did a full charge around 4 pm est and now its 10:30 am est and my battery is still at 52%,and i have been using facebook,messenger,etc...

I had the problem since the first day I upgraded to Nougat.

I tried to keep the screen uncovered by the folio case, seems that everything is fine. thanks bro!

and when I just convered the screen with folio case. the battery started to drain.

I checked the battery usage, when the screen uncovered, the "android system" normally has 5-6% usage when battery has 25% or so left.
when the folio covered the screen. the "android system" has 5% usage when battery has 85% left and the phone became hot.

and i found that "LG Backup" (in the app list of "android sysmtem") is the criminal, when the battery drains fast, the usage of "LG Backup" also goes up to more than 10%.

what is the relation between folio case cover and "LG Backup" App? WTF.

If someone has the same problem and noticed that "android system" takes up to more than 10% and has a orginal folio case. Please try to test with or without the folio case.

I have the same problem and did everything you mention, I had seen which the applications are that consumes battery, it is LG Backup and Quicknotes, those 2 consumes until 85% of battery during a 2 or 3 hours period. It happens just after the update to new version, they should fix this new version, it is a problem with new operating system deployment

I will try taking out the folio case, and then I will comment, LG Backup and Quicknote are the apps that are consuming battery like 90% in a 3 or 4 hours period

It sounds like it might be the same thing that hit nearly all reported V20s weeks ago. The FB and FB Messenger apps were causing INCREDIBLE drainage. Maybe you guys can start with uninstalling those?

BTW my wife keeps her GPS on high accuracy, and has her bluetooth on all the time and she's getting good battery on Nougat. She's had it since it released for the T-Mobile variant.

If any of you are interested, I have the PowerBear battery case with a 4,000 mAh battery for sale. Message me.

After more than 2 months test, if someone encounter the battery drain problem like me ( LG BACKUP app consumes too much battery). Don't use the any folio case or do like i did.

in fact, any folio case has a magnet hidden. there is a hall sensor inside some cell phones and LG G5 is one of them. the magnet in the folio case can make hall sensor detect whether the screen is covered or not.

I keep the folio case but i take out the magnet. Yes I know that when the screen is covered by the case and it won't go off, but the battery drain issue is gone. that is a compromised way to solve this problem, and I can still use the orginal folio case, no need to spend extra money to buy a new non-folio case.

I don't know what is the relation between LG BACKUP app and the hall sensor and i don't think that LG will solve this problem in the future upgrade.

I had the same problem. I took off the LG view case and the problem is solved.

I sent LG an email informing them of the problem. Everyone should do the same. It should be an easy fix.

Use this link and instructions to report the problem. If enough people report it, they will fix it:
