Battery life on my Pixel 2XL prior to Pie was magnificent. I am a light to moderate user and would routinely plug in at night (about 15 hours after unplugging in the morning) with 70% battery left. My usage is pretty consistent and typically includes emailing, some reading, about 30 to 45 minutes of phone calls, and listening to music/streaming, either on the speakers or via Bluetooth earphones. With Pie, that dropped down to 50%. I installed the September 2018 update yesterday. Today, after 12 hours, I am already down to 40%. Anybody else notice a further drop in battery life?

No sorry, I actually got better about 10% since the security update installed. Pie in general was a nice change in battery and I hadn't had any complaints since the update to pie either.

Battery life improved with Pie. Hard to say if battery life has changed much with September update since it's been less than 24 hours.

Sorry to hear that you are not experiencing good battery life after the update! I just downloaded the September update on Tuesday so I'll let you know what my battery life is like after a few more days with it. So far, it looks good - relatively the same as before.

My battery life after Pie went down a LOT, and did not change after the security update. I still haven't done a factory reset, even though I know I should ... I've never done one, and I'm afraid of forgetting to do something really important and either bricking my phone, or losing something.

Ever since the first PIE beta my battery life was noticeably better than previously.(non-XL) Just over 5 hours SOT today and I'm at 16%. I'd never had reached 5 hours SOT before. I don't usually get this low but have been trialing Google Fi and using the phone more.
But bottom line for me is great battery life, no complaints.

I got the September update Tuesday afternoon. No discernible impact on battery. Good as ever.

Still haven't gotten the Sept update yet. I seem to consistently get 19 hours with 3 hours of SOT. Not sure if that is good or bad.

After a few days, I think my battery life (which is good) hasn't changed all that much. Hoping I continue to get the same type of battery life with my current usage.

As long as your important information is backed up, you will be fine! Google Play saves all of your apps with your account so you don't have to worry about missing anything from there. Good luck! :)

My battery was very bad after I upgrades to Pie. But then it gets better after time. I believe Pie has AI built-in. It takes time to learn my usage and adjust the power accordingly.

You're right - it will take time for your phone to adjust to your usage.

I turned on the AI adaptive brightness and have seen a small increase in battery life. I would say having 47% battery life remaining after 6 hours screen on time is pretty darn good!

I'm a first time Android user and left Apple last December after the 6's bs battery issues and the throttling. Every Iphone I had did the same thing, basically went to **** around the 18 to to 24 month range. I'd never really lose my **** until about 3 years in before upgrading. It's a slow burn. My pixel 2 is now behaving like the iphones I had. I'm 10, 11 months in. I used to be able to go a day and half, sometimes two days. It was night and day. Now the pixel is only good for 10 hours maybe...doing really nothing. Does maxing out the memory effect performance?

Welcome to the Android Central Community, gregoncamera!
Where do you normally keep your screen brightness?

First comment. That's exactly what happens to my wife's iPhone every time. 18ish months in and things start failing and the battery life goes to **** yet she won't change.

I think with you getting the Pixel 2 in December that you may have gone from 8.0 to 8.1 to 9. If you haven't done a factory reset since you I'd say it's time. Simply because things can get corrupted and wonky with major OS updates sometimes. Even iPhones can have issues after big updates. Even if you have done one it sounds like you need to do one again maybe.
