So now that some people have had the phone for a couple days, any comments on the battery life? I'm planning on picking up this phone sometime within the week (hopefully tonight or tomorrow night if possible), and I just wanted to know you're thoughts. Is it better/worse than your previous phone? Will it last me through a day of moderate usage?

IMHO I like the battery life. But I had the iPhone 4S and thought that battery life and that wasn't bad either. I'm a power user and i don't expect my phone to last more than a day. That said I have a car charger and can charge at work. Having just bought the phone it dies fast the first time, but that wasn't a full battery. I then charged it all the way up and it went 13+ hours and that's with heavy use considering its still "my new toy". Battery life seems good enough to me. I'm not on LTE though. My screen is on auto and wifi always on. No battery saver or sleep mode either.

Alright well that's reassuring. Thank you! I tend to just charge my phone every night when I'm sleeping (any extra would be inconvenient for me). I'm hoping it will be able to last me from 7am to 11pm with moderate usage, and from what you describe, I would imagine it will.

I wouldn't count on that daily though. I'd say 14 hours is pushing it. Especially if you can't find a little bit of charge time in there somewhere.

Moderate usage it should las that long.

I have to agree with RQuinn. Even on my Blackberry, I charge it every chance I get. Charge it every nioht, charge it in the car to and from work and tap into your office computer's USB port when you can, or use your charger on an office plug. Better to top it off every chance you get. That way you're working from full power. Heck, if you can, just run the thing on external power when you can. I do with the berry and will with the Vivid.

Charged mine last night for first time in evening, been on battery about 15 hours now and battery is at 36%. Use power saving overnight, on WiFi most of day when at home or work. 2 email accounts check every 15 minutes, 2 check about every hour plus Gmail and Google updates. A couple short calls, and on and off multiple times during the day, auto sync on, screen brightness medium and screen timeout 45 sec. Seems to be on par with Inspire 4G, seems like Inspire was better with use and some tweaks. If I can get 15-18 hours a charge that would be good. Will have to see when using 4G LTE more what happens.

Do HTC's charge quickly? My S2 took forever, nothing like Apple the charge rapidly. Easy to pick up 5-10% in the car.

Well it sounds like I should be fine then. I am in school from 7 to 3, so it isn't getting too much usage during that time. Just a few texts here and there and checking some emails/Facebook, maybe playing a game or two in some spare minutes. After that I use it a bit more heavily, but I would imagine it would last me until I plug it in at night. Thanks for the input guys!

Its been 14 hours since mine come off the charger today, and I've browsed, downloaded apps, messed with a bunch of settings, wifi all day and HPSA+ for most, watched videos, and talked on the phone for an hour. All that and its only at 52%, my inspire would be on life support by now. I expected with the bigger screen and dual processors that even with a slightly bigger punch from the battery that this would barely keep pace with the inspire, but so far its really impressed me.

That Is impressive. I hope mine will behave as well.

I also have had the HTC Vivid phone for about a week now. After doing some research, I found out that it actually does have the 1.5 GHz duel core processor, but AT&T is under-clocking it down to 1.2 GHz to save power. Battery wise, I'd say it's the best HTC I've owned to date. I am a heavy user, using the wireless network which is always on, Bluetooth always on and it's rooted with developer apps installed. It's not without the usual 'bleeding edge technology' bugs of course, but so far these are minor. Some of the new phones have been reported as having dust _under the screen_ presumably from not being sealed properly at the factory. Also some of the screens have been reported as having dead pixels, so be sure to check that and get yours traded out asap, *IF* that's the case. Overall, I highly recommend the Vivid.

Thanks for the detailed report. I just ordered mine and I'll do a detailed acceptance inspection on arrival. The local ATT device repair station is not too far from me, so any problems like that will have me there quickly.

A question for you, please. Can the phone be re-clocked back to 1.5GHz? I expect root is a must, but what else would be involved? Thank you very much.

Interesting info about the underclocking on the Vivid. I will probably be getting one soon (have been too busy to go argue with the AT&T store reps so far, but I have played with the Vivid and the Skyrocket in the store and talked with them for a bit). Can't wait to get one!

Ah! I saw a speck, that I thought was a scratch, on my scree the DAY AFTER I got it.. It floored me as to how it could have been scratched that soon, because I got it on launch day at about 6.00 p.m, and boy did I baby that thing all evening, then I noticed the speck the next morning. So who do I talk to to get a replacement? The store I got it from? HTC?

Battery life has been decent for me. I will really have to test it when I'm at work with a weak signal. My Atrix, which was usually awesome, drained fairly quickly when I'm at work. One thing that surprises the hell out of me about this phone is my data speeds. I've been seeing upwards of 10mbps, I even hit 14!

Im easily getting 17 hrs and only hitting between 50% - 40% when i plug in at night. I havent used it really heavily yet, but it doesnt just sit in my pocket all the time either. Ive had the phone for almost a week, so Id say its broken in by now. Ill give it a real run for its money when Gameloft gets there HD games up for the vivid.

I have found that the battery life is pretty decent. It's on par with most other Android phones. Not as good as Windows Phone (WP7 phones generally have much better battery life than android/iphones). But still pretty respectable. I easily get through my work day with 60-70% still full. (7am-4pm)
